A tribute has been made to remember 109 fallen troops in a north Norfolk town.
Wells Harbour has worked along with the Royal British Legion (RBL) to transform the lifeboat horse, which sits just off the Quay in the town, into a war horse for the period of remembrance.
Robert Smith, Wells harbourmaster said he was approached by a woman asking if he would consider doing something with the horse for Remembrance Day.
“The Wells Harbour team came up with the War Horse idea, and after collaborating with the local RBL, it was decided to fix 109 handmade woollen poppies onto the horse, to represent one for each name on the Wells War Memorial,” Mr Smith said.
“It is also 109 years since the start of World War One.
“It was also felt by all at Wells Harbour and the RBL that the lifeboat horse becoming a War Horse for a period leading up to and after Remembrance Day would not only be a symbol of remembrance but also a symbol of hope for a peaceful future, particularly now during these troubled times.”
